Flash is a dieing technology. Apple are just helping it on its way. Bring on HTML5.

The iPhone, iTouch, iPad use 64bit technology and Apple do not allow proprietary plug-ins -especially 32bit ones. In other words, Adobe uses its own proprietary standards to benefit itself.

Flash support is a must. Like it or not much of the web uses this. And when you have to access the internet from a work kiosk that has no flash you realize just how much of the web relies on it.

I am an iPhone owner, and lack Flash support it for me the #1 reason not to buy an IPAD. Apple needs to fix this ASAP. Restriction of what runs in the iPAD and iPhone will be at the end what will bring down the maket share of Apple products.
Other are behind but they will catch up and they will be open platforms. Apple can have a semiOpen platform insted of close at keep its market share.

Essential. I want an iPad, but not if I can\'t experience half of the Internet. Either Apple does it, or someone finds a way to hack it in. Otherwise its a non-starter. This isn\'t a phone with extra features, its an Internet device and reader. It has no point without flash!! See bit.ly/9AqZby

@Giordano Certainly right going forward we will see less and less Flash.

Unfortunately one of the main things my wife saw herself using an iPad for was to be able to quickly and easily check Facebook, and in particular the games like Farmville and Cafe World, in the evenings.

Without flash support those games won't work and I'm back to hunting out a decent netbook for her.

I don't think so.. I rather think that Flash player is over. All the major web sites are switching to HTML5 which is much better than Flash.
What's more, Flash has too many security issues.

It may be a little cynical but my guess is Apple avoid flash for the iPhone and iPad because then you go and buy App Store games and not play free flash based games online.
